On December 25, 2020, in Jalal-Abad, there was a presentation of the Project «Promotion of the Rule of Law and Access to Justice to Victims of Gender-Based Violence». The participants of the meeting were representatives of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Jalal-Abad region, law enforcement officials, the Ombudsman’s office, state agencies dealing with social and other support, representatives of aiyl okmotu and deputies of local councils, as well as lawyers, representatives of civil society organizations dealing with domestic violence.
Representatives of the public association «Innovative Solution» informed the participants about the goals, objectives, key activities and expected results of the project. The issues of building communication between state and local authorities on gender-based violence, as well as improving cooperation between law enforcement agencies, state authorities, local governments and non-governmental organizations in responding to the cases of gender-based violence, ensuring the inevitability of punishment for these facts, as well as enhancing the participation of local authorities in addressing this acute problem were discussed at the event.
The event was organized by the «Innovative Solution» Public Association with the financial support of the Democracy Commission, U.S. Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic.
